Traditional Food and Pubs in Dublin

Dublin is known as the world capital of pubs, and one of the most common questions I’m asked is, “How many pubs are there in Dublin?”

In 2015, according to license records, there were 751 pubs registered in Dublin alone, which means one pub for every 1,695 people. However, the real challenge isn’t counting the pubs, but trying to walk across the city without stepping into one! In fact, few visitors come to Dublin with the intention of taking on such a challenge.

If you’ve been here for a few days, you’ve probably visited some of the most famous and well-known pubs, the ones highlighted in tourist guides. But if you’re now looking to discover a different side of Dublin, with a little curiosity and a sense of adventure, I’d be happy to guide you to hidden pubs that you wouldn’t find following the usual tourist routes.

During this tour, you’ll have the chance to meet real Dubliners, people you’d rarely encounter in the more touristy pubs. With them, sipping a good stout, pale ale, or red, you’ll uncover fascinating stories about the city and its legends, all in a cozy and informal atmosphere, maybe accompanied by the rhythm of a typical Irish jam session.

If you’re ready for an authentic experience, away from the crowds, let yourself be surprised by this side of Dublin that only true connoisseurs know.

Add an Excursion to Discover Irish Food

If you’d like to add a traditional Irish breakfast, lunch, or dinner to your tour—whether in a fish and chips shop or a local pub, far from the usual tourist routes—where you can savor the flavors of Irish cuisine, enjoy a homely atmosphere away from the tourist crowds, and pay a price that won’t leave you with a stomach ache, we can organize an authentic “locals” evening for you.

The average cost is 50 euros per group.
