Dublin is a small city for being a European capital, which not only makes it walkable but also very easy to explore.

To get from the airport to the city center conveniently, you can either take a taxi, which typically costs between 20 and 25 euros, or use the frequent bus services that depart just outside the arrival terminals.

The most affordable but rather slow service is provided by Dublin Bus, with routes 16, 41, and 102.

The one-way ticket price from the city center to the airport or vice versa (there is no return ticket, as these are regular bus services) is 3.30 euros for adults, 1.30 euros for children aged 6 to 16, and free for children under 5.

Note: Only coins are accepted, and no change is given. Instead, you’ll receive a ticket with which you can collect your change from the Dublin Bus office on O’Connell Street. Who wouldn’t want to take a small tourist detour to visit the bus office in Dublin?

Finally, Air Coach offers the fastest service to travel between the airport and the city center. You can purchase your Aircoach ticket at the arrival terminal, from one of their kiosks, directly on the bus, or online at www.aircoach.ie.

Ticket prices:

  • Adults: 8.00 euros for a one-way trip, 9.00 euros for a round trip
  • Children: 2.50 euros for a one-way trip, 3.00 euros for a round trip

If you want to travel from the airport to other Irish cities, you can do so through several bus agencies, including:

Fun Fact About Dublin Bus Fares:

As mentioned, tickets for Dublin Bus can only be purchased on the buses, and it’s best to have cash. Fares depend on the stops rather than the travel time. You can find all fare information at this link.

The Leap Card (valid on all Dublin Bus, Luas, and DART lines)

The Leap Card is an electronic card you can use on Dublin Bus, the green and red Luas (the Dublin tram), and the DART, the coastal train that connects all the towns along Dublin’s coast and beyond. The Leap Card saves you 50 cents per trip, and if you take a second bus within an hour, you’ll receive a 1-euro discount.

Be aware, though, that although you can use the Leap Card on all Dublin Bus routes, it does not offer discounts on the 747 and 757 routes.
